Recently, our colleague John Butterworth had the pleasure of supporting the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust reaching a significant milestone in the treatment of pancreatic tumours, completing a record-breaking nine Endoscopic Ultrasound-guided Radiofrequency Ablation (EUSRA) procedures in a single day.

The procedures were performed using the Tae Woong Medical EUSRA system, a cutting-edge technology that enables minimally invasive treatment for patients with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumours (PNETs) and other pancreatic tumours.

The service, led by Dr Sudharshan Kadri (Consultant Gastroenterologist) and Mr Deep Malde (Consultant HPB Surgeon), has been running on Sundays for several years. Their commitment has ensured that patients receive the most effective treatment options available, significantly improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Reflecting on the team’s accomplishment, Dr Sudharshan Kadri said, “Proud of our Pancreatic RFA team – delivering cutting-edge care and hope to patients battling cancer today. Transforming lives through dedication.”
