Calcium sodium alginate dressing

A calcium sodium alginate (80% calcium and 20% sodium) made out of natural seaweed. The alginate component enables the dressing to absorb up to 20 times its own weight in exudate. *

Features and Benefits

  • Facilitates moist wound healing by maintaining a moist environment
  • Haemostatic properties due to the release of calcium ions when in contact with exudate
  • Reduces the risk of maceration due to high levels of absorbency

Mode of action

  • The exchange of calcium ions (within the dressing) with sodium ions (in exudate) transforms the alginate into a moist gel
