GENTA-COLL® resorb

GENTA-COLL® resorb

GENTA-COLL® resorb is a haemostatic collagen sponge containing the aminoglycoside antibiotic – gentamicin.

GENTA-COLL® resorb in thoracic and cardiac surgery

A median sternotomy is performed in the majority of surgical procedures performed on the heart. Postoperative wound infections after a sternotomy are a rare complication. Their frequency fluctuates between 1 and 4 %.

Given the significant subsequent costs and the physical and psychological stresses for the patient, the use of GENTA-COLL® resorb can be a useful addition to conventional surgical and prophylactic approaches.

The proven properties of the collagen sponge…

  • implantable
  • haemostatic
  • absorbable
  • pliable
  • highly absorbent
  • structurally stable and elastic in the moist wound environment
  • biocompatible

… combined with the antibiotic protection of gentamicin: GENTA-COLL® resorb is recommended for haemostasis
