GORE® SEAMGUARD® Bioabsorbable Staple Line Reinforcement

GORE® SEAMGUARD® Bioabsorbable Staple Line Reinforcement

Minimizing perioperative leaks and bleeding associated with staple line formation when transacting or resecting soft tissue.

Bioabsorbable Staple Line Reinforcement is specifically engineered to reduce the incidence of perioperative leaks and bleeding in a variety of open and minimally invasive surgeries.

Constructed from Polyglycolic acid:
Trimethylene carbonate (PGA: TMC), a medically proven biocompatible copolymer, GORE Seamguard Bioabsorbable Staple Line Reinforcement is composed of a matrix of open, highly interconnected pores facilitating cell infiltration, tissue generation, growth, and healing.

The proven legacy of GORE Seamguard Reinforcement includes:

  • Nearly 2,000,000 devices implanted.
  • More than 10 years of proven experience.
  • More than 50 clinical papers documenting its successful use in bariatric, colorectal, thoracic, and other procedures.

Uniform, thin material. By adding a consistent, strong yet thin 0.40 mm reinforcement to the staple line, GORE Seamguard Reinforcement mechanically increases the strength of the resection line by evenly distributing the staple pressure exerted on the tissue over a wider surface of area.

Strength over time. Serving as an effective scaffold, the pores successfully guide the regeneration of favourable type I collagen. While providing added strength to the staple line during the critical healing process, this reinforcement is gradually and predictably absorbed, usually within six to seven months. The risk of a prolonged inflammatory response is eliminated.

Minimal inflammatory response. Compared to other buttressing materials, GORE Seamguard Reinforcement has shown minimal tissue inflammatory response.
